circlesix
Prior to fjcstudio’s relocation to Australia Square in 2025, I collaborated with the studio’s Design Director and the founder of circlesix to establish a cultural venue for conversations, presentations and events centred on architecture, design and the wider creative community.
My involvement spanned the development and delivery of the platform, from initial strategy and brand identity through to marketing, event production and audience experience. I developed the visual identity and communications across digital and physical touchpoints, including the website, social media templates, EDMs, Humanitix listings and in-studio displays.
Central to the identity was a motion graphic exploring the concept of ‘squaring the circle’. The animation conceptualised fjcstudio’s office fit-out to illustrate circlesix’s role as the ‘heart of the studio’, revealing its transformation from a daytime studio café and communal workspace into an independent evening event venue. This visual narrative communicated the venue’s dual purpose within the broader studio environment while establishing a distinct identity for circlesix. Featured on the website homepage and as the opening sequence for each event, the animation became the platform’s signature brand introduction.
Alongside the visual identity, I established contact lists, coordinated the annual programme with external speakers and collaborators, and developed promotional content for architecture and design media channels. These efforts helped build an engaged audience, from the successful inaugural event through to consistently well-attended sessions and fully booked upcoming events.
For each event, I managed the production of presentation materials, bespoke graphics and supporting visual content, alongside catering, attendee coordination and on-the-day hosting. I shaped the visual experience of each presentation through opening sequences, thematic graphics and post-event content, while coordinating audiovisual requirements with the studio’s IT team. Working closely with the Design Director, I continually refined the event format, spatial atmosphere and presentation environment, ensuring the venue, content and audience came together as a cohesive experience.
Research into the history of Australia Square provided a deeper narrative for the venue. Designed by Harry Seidler in collaboration with engineer Pier Luigi Nervi, the modernist landmark originally envisioned Level 6 as an exhibition floor. This cultural ambition informed the messaging and storytelling developed for circlesix, connecting the architectural significance of the space with its renewed purpose as a setting for cultural exchange, dialogue and creative engagement.
Through this work, circlesix became an extension of fjcstudio’s practice: a platform for exploring the ideas, issues and narratives shaping architecture today. By bringing together architects, designers and the wider creative community, it creates opportunities to exchange perspectives, challenge established thinking and engage in critical conversations about the built environment.
